To note: The U1 model is a legendary Yamaha upright that is probably found in more Universities, Conservatories and Music Schools than any other single model of any manufacturer. Still manufactured in Japan, it is an extremely sturdy and well-designed piano with a big sound and very responsive touch. It has been in production and distributed for more than 50 years in the United States. Over the years it has constantly been improved upon and tweaked, culminating in the current U1 model.
