DESCRIPTION:Dynamic and engaging\, pianist Francesca Hurst delights audiences with a mix of classical and contemporary music. Listeners have described her playing as “moving and compelling” and “powerful yet sensitive”\,and The Washington Post praised her “quicksilver passagework” and “tender lyricism”. Francesca has appeared as a solo and collaborative guest artist at the Wintergreen Music Festival\, Atlantic Music Festival\, New Music Delaware; and has performed recitals at the Kennedy Center\, the National Gallery of Art\, for The Embassy Series in Washington\, DC\, and internationally in Bulgaria\, Italy\,Portugal\, and France. During the pandemic\, she created the 100-day online video series Daily Dose of Piano\, which featured music from the Baroque to today. She holds a DMA\, MM\, and BFA in Piano Performance\, and a BA in Italian. Dr. Hurst currently teaches applied piano and piano pedagogy at The Catholic University of America and the University of Virginia\, and is on the faculty of the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy. DESCRIPTION:Jordan Kitt’s Music is proud to present a special duo recital in the Fairfax Bösendorfer Salon\, featuring internationally acclaimed pianists and recording artists Dr. Nikita Fitenko and Dr. Katerina Zaitseva. \nNikita Fitenko\, D.M.A.\, is an International Yamaha Artist and Professor of Piano at the Rome School of Music\, Drama\, and Art (Catholic University of America). He performs extensively throughout the United States as well as in Europe\, South Korea\, and China. \nKaterina Zaitseva\, D.M.A.\, is on the piano faculty at Levine Music as well as teaching and coaching select students in her private studio in Rockville\, MD. She regularly performs solo recitals and chamber music\, as well as duo-performances with Dr. Fitenko. They have recorded extensively\, both solo performances and duo-piano works. \nThe program will feature works by Prokofiev\, Shostakovich\, Gershwin\, and Percy Grainger. This will be a sneak preview of the upcoming Washington International Piano Festival (WIPF)\, which runs July 27 through August 4\, 2024. Most WIPF performances\, lectures and master classes will take place at the Rome School of Music\, Drama\, and Art’s Ward Recital Hall (on the campus of The Catholic University of America).  \nThis will be a very popular performance and seating in the Fairfax Salon is limited.
