Knabe WV243 Mahog (SOLD)
This Knabe WV243 Mahogany Satin console piano is a beautiful instrument in an elegant case. It measures 43 1/2" in height giving it a full tone but with a more compact console look. It's relatively new in age and in excellent condition.
The Knabe company's history goes back to the mid 1800's during a time when a number of other similar great American hand-crafted pianos like Mason & Hamlin, Steinway and Baldwin were being established.
In the late 1900's when most of the American piano manufacturers were no longer in business, Knabe was still actively building pianos. It was acquired by Samick, to this day the largest and best known Korean piano manufacturer. Samick continued manufacturing the Knabe pianos, using much of their original scale designs, but in South Korea where the cost of manufacturing is less than in the U.S.
This piano is in very good technical condition, along with having a beautiful case, also in wonderful shape. It has a very big, rich sound for an upright piano and would be perfect for any musician or music lover, from beginner to more advanced.
For comparison, also look at a new Cristofori V465 studio upright, in the same price range and with a superior 12 year parts and labor warranty. For only slightly more, Yamaha's b-series models are also good alternatives in similar cabinet styles.
