The Cristofori Story
The Cristofori Story begins with Bartolomeo Cristofori, an Italian harpsichord maker. In the early 1700's he designed the first "Forte-piano", a keyboard instrument with hammers striking strings from underneath, as opposed to the harpsichord's plucked strings. Now musicians could play expressively (loud and soft), and thus, Cristofori is credited as the father of the modern day piano.
In the early 2000's, two famous companies, Jordan Kitt's Music (Est. 1912) and Schmitt Music (Est. 1896), joined forces to design a high quality, entry-level piano brand. This line of pianos under the Cristofori brand incorporates an upgrade feature list not found in any other similarly priced pianos. The 12 year unlimited/transferable parts and labor warranty is unparalleled in the industry.
Cristofori is manufactured by Pearl River, the largest and most technologically advanced piano manufacturer in the world. Now nearly 70 years old, they operate out of a new 1 million square foot manufacturing plant and R&D facility. Joint ventures with venerable piano makers like Yamaha and Steinway, are testament to their quality.
