Emmet Cohen

Jazz pianist Emmet Cohen plays a Yamaha C6X from Jordan Kitt’s Music at Color Burst Park.

Jordan Kitt’s Music was pleased to provide the 7′ Yamaha grand piano for a special performance by jazz great Emmet Cohen at Color Burst Park in Columbia.

Emmet Cohen is one of his generation’s pivotal figures in music and the related arts. Leader of the Emmet Cohen Trio and creator of the Masters Legacy Series, he is an internationally acclaimed jazz artist, a dedicated educator, the winner of the 2019 American Pianists Awards, and a finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. Cohen headlines regularly at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Village Vanguard, and Birdland, and has appeared at the Newport, Monterey, and North Sea jazz festivals. He was also voted the world’s 3rd best living jazz pianist in the DownBeat reader’s poll this past December. Find more about Emmet’s current tour here.

The event is part of Amped in the Park: A cooperative concert series between the Merriweather Arts & Cultural Center & Columbia Festival of the Arts designed to bring free live music to the surrounding area around the Pavilion and the Merriweather District.

Jordan Kitt’s Music has been a longtime partner of both organizations in bringing live music to residents of Howard County, and in furthering music education and exposure in the area.

Harry Potter Cristofori Piano

Cristofori takes the stage at Merriweather with the BSO for the Music of Harry Potter !

A Cristofori CRG62L Full Grand was chosen for the recent performance of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™ in Columbia, MD.

Ron Spigelman, Conductor, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra took the stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion for a special evening of music and magic to perform John William’s enchanting score for a spellbound audience.

The Soulful Symphony Premiere at Merriweather is June 29th at 7:30pm

Our friends at Merriweather Post Pavillion welcome Soulful Symphony’s inaugural three-show season, Soulful Summers, as Merriweather Post Pavilion’s resident symphony, beginning a new era for both the acclaimed orchestra and iconic music venue.

Soulful Symphony takes the stage June 29 with #soulfulsetlist. Continuing its mission of exploring the rich diversity of American Roots Music, Soulful Symphony captures the magic and wonder of one of the most iconic stages in the country with a mash-up of American anthems covering every conceivable style and genre – original orchestral arrangements, magnificent vocal performances and spectacular dancing. It’s the ultimate Remix. This is what makes Soulful Symphony unlike any orchestral ensemble in the world.

As part of the lead up to #Soulfulsetlist, fans will be able to vote on songs to be included in the #Soulfulsetlist program, taking Soulful’s radically inclusive approach to new levels. More details will be announced soon about the fan voting component, but the message is clear: #Soulfulsetlist has something for everyone.
